St Moriz Mousse with Latex Gloves Update...

So you will recall from yesterday that I said I would be giving this product one more chance using my gloves only as the mitt and my bare hands appear to be soaking up all the product, meaning I end up with no tan the following day.

Therefore last night I applied using only the latex gloves. My skin felt very very tacky as I climbed into my bed last night, but I can handle that if it means that I will have gloriously tanned skin the next day.

I don't.

However, it is a little darker than the day before which is good at least. It's annoying though because when I am in natural light I look the same colour as always.

My conclusion:-

I think that this is potentially a 'bad batch' as I have used the Mousse before and liked it. However, it has still put me off repurchasing another because even if it is around £3.00, it's still a waste of money if it doesn't really work. Plus, who wants to apply fake tan EVERY night just to get a little bit of colour. Not me.

Clearly, my quest for the perfect fake tan is far from over!

St Moriz Fake Tan Review

Ah fake tanning, the bane of my life. What a pain it is trying to find a tan that isn't so expensive I end up skint for the rest of the month, yet not too cheap that it doesn't work or causes me issues.

Most of the products I have used in the past don't give me enough colour after one application, and yes I am including both Fake Bake and St Tropez within this category too. Therefore realistically I probably need to tan every other night/couple of nights a week to be the colour I desire. So if I dislike a tanning product it's probably not going to get used because I can't spend every other night feeling so horrendous I can't sleep. (I tan before bed)

So back to St Moriz...

What I like:-

*I can use it on my face without irritation or breaking out.
*Dries pretty quickly into the skin
*Brown not orange toned colour when applied a couple of night's in a row
*Doesn't have that nasty curried biscuits smell most other tans have
*Super Cheap (around £3.00)
*Doesn't streak when rub in so I can put it on and leave the house if needed


What I dislike:-

*Unless I am religious with moisturising day and night this really dries out my skin
*The colour is not dark enough from one application for me
*Spray Mist is a little tricky to apply as the nozzle tends to spray one small area
*If I reapply a lot in a short space of time my skin just ends up scaly and patchy, I have to seriously exfoliate to get rid of it all and start from scratch.

Application:-
I have used St Moriz using gloves, bare hands and tanning mitts. I like using a mitt because it ensures that the application is very even and takes less effort. However, I have also found that when I use the mitt for the mousse it simply doesn't work. I have no idea what the problem is but the next day there is no difference what so ever.

In addition, whilst its dries quicker and is easier to use, the mitt absorbs the product in a similar way that your hand does, meaning the colour goes on darker when just using latex gloves.

I have been dissapointed with the mousse in general recently. I had been using the spray because that was all I could get hold of, however after using the mousse with the mitt and my hands I have noticed that there has been no change in my skin colour. I am going to have one last go with the latex gloves tonight and hope for the best. Otherwise, I will be back to the spray and more likely than not back to using more expensive products!

That said, I would recommend this for anyone wanting a cheap false tanning product because it does provide a more realistic colour than so many of the others I have tried and because it is so cheap it's worth just seeing what you think. I have tried much more expensive tans and been very dissapointed.

I did hope to be able to show you some before and after photo's but they have not come up very well so if I manage to capture some I will add on as an update.

MUA Lippie Love

Good afternoon beauties!!

I just wanted to share a fantabulous bargain I picked up from the MUA range recently. As the title suggests it's a lipstick and of course it only cost £1.00.

And it looks like this.....

It's a lovely warm shade and it's what I wore on my recent FOTD post. The shade is number 11.

All I would say is go out and buy it! It's not remotely drying and I can easily wear it alone for a divine satin finish.

Crest 3D Whitestrips Vivid

Hey, hope you are all well.

Just a quick post to let you know that I recently purchased my first set of Whitestrips. I haven't used them yet as they arrived in today's post!

I have heard some really fabulous reviews about this product on other blogs and makeupalley.com - every time I ask for recommendations these come up. So I have purchased the 10 day, once a day treatment so fingers crossed they will live up to the hype...

I will let you know how I get on real soonie.

Beauty Books - my current favourites

Since I was about 12 my parents have bought me makeup and beauty books as xmas and birthday gifts.

I have a vast collection of the beauty books providing natural beauty methods, like how creating home made hair/face masks.

These gifts resulted in my love for girlie books (by this I mean beauty, makeup, hair and style types). For the past few years I've purchased more of the books about "being stylish". Hey - I'm trying to find my inner (professional) fashionista!

More recently however I have rekindled my love for makeup and beauty books and given the nature of this blog I thought it was only right that I share my favourites!

The Bobbi Brown and Afro Hair and Beauty Bible were xmas and birthday gifts from the boyf. The Jemma Kidd was a gift from me to me ;)

I have noticed recently a couple of bloggers asking if the Bobbi Brown book is any good. It really really is. I think it is amazing, provides fab step by step guides for makeup application and makes me just want to go out and purchase the whole stand!

The Afro Hair and Beauty Bible is good because it provides skin care as well as hair care. It's such a relief to find a book that gives advice on afro hair that isn't dated.

I so wish I was able and could pull off wearing my hair like that below!

And finally, the Jemma Kidd book is great for providing some lovely makeup looks to copy as well as in depth detail regarding application, skincare and tools every girl should have!

I don't know I just think there is something terribly exciting about reading through these books and thinking that these simple steps and advice could result in a more groomed version of me haha!!

In all seriousness though they are all reasonably priced and offer some great tips and techniques that I will refer to over and over again.

A Sunday FOTD

So from my previous post you will know that I have recently purchased the Rainbow Eyes Reborn Palette by Front Cover Cosmetics and I had my first go of applying some of the colours today.

As I was only popping into town today and thereafter having a lazy day I didn't want my makeup to be to OTT. So I used more gold/copper shades of the eyes to keep the look a kind of muted glitz.

Here was the end result.



I used:-

Face -
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, Laura Mercier Concealer, Clinque Finishing Powder, Bare Minerals Warmth, Lily Lolo Transluscent Silk, Eyeko Face Cream to highlight cheek bones centre of nose top of lips

Eyes -
Front Cover Cosmetics shades Biscuit to eyebrow, Mother of Pearl on lid up to crease, Hazel above and along crease and Clove lining the top lash line and blending out to crease on outside corner.
Also Eyeko Graffiti Pen in Brown and Revlon Fablulash Mascara

Lips -
MUA Lipstick in shade 11 (love this)
