Every now and then I like to raid the drugstore makeup isles and go bargain hunting. Technically, it's only a bargain if a product is good, but there is something about going to all the stands and picking up a load of different items for a lot less than you would in Selfridges for example.
So not so long ago I did just that and this primer was one of the items I came away with.
I do like the idea of primers, I have used a few that I have liked in the past but usually they change the formula and it means it no longer works as well (in my experience).
This primer is meant to 'help you achieve picture perfect preparation' for your makeup.
So what did I think?
I'd say that this primer is average to good. I would recommend it if you were new to primers and wanted to try them out on your skin. This primer evens out the surface of your skin. It glides on and dries in pretty quickly to leave a smooth even surface for application.
I don't notice a difference however to how my makeup looks upon application and that is something I really like about other primers.
Also, I would say that this makes my makeup last a little longer, but on the whole I still need to touch up on the t-zone after a few hours.
I do use this, however it's not good enough to make me want to use it daily, but for £4.99 it's probably worth a try if you have normal skin.

Hi all!
Hope you had a fab weekend! Mine was great - started with champagne and a meal out with the boyf which was perfect!!
Anyway, it's late, it's Sunday night and this is often the only time I get to write up a post for your reading pleasure. This time I am reviewing the MUFE Mist and Fix. Which was purchased at IMATs, London in January.

So why am I only reviewing it now you ask... Well because it has taken me this long to find a regular use for it.
I bought this product with a view to using it after all my makeup was applied in the same vain as some of the other products out there. In all honesty, I didn't find much use for this in that sense. That is primarily because I don't feel very passionate about such products and I'm not really convinced of their purpose.
However, not to waste a product I have found a new use!! You may recall some time ago I did a post on the Cosmopolitan Makeup Sponge. This is something I am very fond of and use everyday to apply my foundation. I apply however only when the sponge is damp or the look it too heavy.
So, you can probably imagine how I use this now, but just incase... I spray the Mist & Fix on the sponge before dipping into my foundation and applying on my face.
Works a treat.
Also, it does help with ensuring that the foundation lasts. I have found my MAC Studio Fix Foundation last a lot longer when I apply using this method, and also prevents my skin from drying out when using this foundation regularly!

So, what does it do?
According to Maybelline this.. smooths over skin for a retexurised feel and a poreless look
So what did I experience? Pretty much the above. I mean, don't get me wrong - it's not a miracle product - my pores didn't just disappear but they were visibly reduced as were the lines in my forehead. Result.
Here it is with MAC studio fix fluid.
I have also tried it with MUFE HD and L'oreal Studio Secrets - all with good results. I have filmed a video with Studio Secrets over the primer which you can view here. I just didn't want to spend all weekend taking picures (however if you would like me to show you pics of these too just comment below)
The downside to this product was that it doesn't do anything to improve the longevity of your makeup. However, in all fairness, it doesn't claim to. That is just something extra I want from my primers.
That little glitch would not stop me from recommending it though. It retails at £7.99 in Superdrug at present and is normally £9.99. For that price I think it is a gem. It does provide a smoother base to apply my makeup allowing for smoother application. My makeup glides onto my skin better so that is good.
Overall? Good product at a good price - definitely worth a try!

So I have been using this powder for a while now but unfortunately my previous one did that annoying breaking thing, you know, where it ends up in bits in the tin. Joy. So I had to purchase another one
I buy shade Transparent 001 because all the others look orange on my skin (even though I'm not all that pale!). This goes on really light though so it just provides you with a smoothing mattifying effect. All good for £3.99!
What I would say is that this product works better with good brushes. When I used to use cheaper (not so soft ones) it would look a bit too heavy as it would not apply evenly. However now that I have my amazing powder brush from my Academy of Pro Makeup it goes on like a dream and this is what it looks like...
£3.99 well spent! (MAC Studio Fix Fluid on underneath powder).
I'd say well worth a look at if you are looking for a decent drug store powder!

Back in September like many of you ladies I took advantage of the Boots £5 off No7 offer and purchased a few bits and bobs.
I haven't reviewed them on here yet, so I thought I would start with this serum.
I'm sure that like me many of you are on the quest for perfect skin (am I right?)which often comes in the form of many lotions and potions!!
So of course the thought of refining my pores is always going to be appealing - hence why I decided to try this. Which I have been using for over a month now. Prior to this I had been using Vie at Home's serum (review here) but like everything it ran out and with No7's only being £12.50 before discount I thought why not.
So what do I think of this product? It's good enough for £12.50 with discount. I wouldn't say that it refines my pores at all but it does make my skin look a little brighter. You can see from the above pictures that when it is rubbed into the skin it has a sheen to it. This is effectively what it does to my face also.
I don't dislike this product but I wouldn't say that I would run out to repurchase it again. I have used a few other serums which have been really good but unfortunately they are more expensive and therefore after this has run out I will be reverting back to the Vie at Home serum because it just worked so well as a makeup base whereas this doesn't.
I don't even need to wear moisturiser with the Vie at Home serum - just a little primer and I am good to go - but with this I have to moisturise and use primer.
It's not that this product is bad and perhaps if you are looking to buy your first serum and have normal skin this would be a good place to start, but for those of you that want something a little more specific, I think the more expensive brands are probably going to be of better use.
I would recommend for those trying out a face serum for the first time.

As some of you may now know, having read some of my previous posts, I started using mineral makeup around March time.
The main reason for this was that I had been using heavier foundations and my skin had changed so they didn't seem to apply as nicely.
Also, you may have also read about the issues I have previously had with primers, particularly with them making my pores look worse not better!
So how relieved was I when I tried this little beauty...
It retails at £18 and is described as
A preservative-free foundation primer developed to combat flaky dryness, fine lines, excess oil, and enlarged pores. This bareMinerals-infused formula glides on with no tacky feel to provide a skin-smoothing complexion prior to applying bareMinerals SPF 15 foundation
So what do I think of this primer??
I think it's fantastic. It really really helps my skin. Having slightly larger pores than I would like this acts as a lovely smoothing base for my makeup. It glides on, and whilst it feels kind of oil on your fingers it just seeps into the skin leaving it smooth for application.
I have used this both with and without moisturiser and mixed with moisturiser (it works really well with Boots Vanishing Day Cream) and I always get good results no matter what.
It's not mattifying, although there is an oil control primer available from Bare Escentuals for those of you with oily skin.
My skin is combination I would say, so this is perfect. I used to suffer with dry flaky patches when applying foundation and I have never suffered from this since using this primer.
What I like the most though is that it works AMAZINGLY under my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation also. This is great because some days I want heavier coverage and some days I don't. It just depends on my makeup mood and whether I want my makeup natural or more "done up". So I love that I now have the option to wear either again.
The main thing about this primer is that it makes my skin look better underneath my foundation. I have noticed that my makeup lasts a little longer, but not as much as some others have made it last.
That said, I prefer not to use ANY of the primers that make my makeup stay put all day and all night because so far they have been really drying and unflattering on my skin.
So would I re-purchase/recommend?
Without a doubt!! I think that this is really reasonably priced at £18 because for me it does exactly what it says it will, which lets face it, isn't usually the case!

Ok, so I don't know about you but I am finding that a good primer is hard to come by. I suppose it is because everyone's skin is different and so it's pretty difficult to find out if it works for you until you have actually incorporated it fully into your beauty routine.I had seen a couple of reviews that were on the positive side about this product though so a couple of months ago I gave it a go. It retails at £10.75 at Boots.
I was hoping for minimised pores and a non-greasy nose.
Unfortunately, what I ended up with was dull looking skin with obvious HUGE pores. This should be called Moisture Free Makeup Base.
When I applied this I would attempt to blend quickly, but still ended up with it clinging to the skin due to its paste-type texture. Then of course my makeup would go on on top and look the same. I mean ok so my makeup STAYS on with this - all day and all night if I wanted it to and it is possible to get a more even base if you put a thicker layer of it on. However, the first thing my boyf said the first day I wore it was "Awwww haven't you got a lot of makeup on today" (which translates to JEEZ! Too Much!).
I tried it for a couple of weeks to see if it was down to application techniques, but nothing made it work any better for me. It just made my foundation look like a heavy cakey mask. To be 100% sure I tried it with my bare minerals which is so sheer on my skin and even that then drew attention to my pores and looked like it was sat on top of skin horribly!
So in short - I have given up on this and will not be re-purchasing.
Oh, and incase you are wondering if it's just me - I did try and give this to L incase it worked for her about 2 weeks ago and she brought it back to me the next day saying it was AWFUL and had ruined her makeup for the day!
That said - I have used it as an eyeshadow primer in the past and it keeps your eyeshadow in place all day long, which is something!
Anyone else tried this primer, or have any other primers you swear by?
