Whether you are saving for a holiday, at uni, saving for a house, saving for a wedding, or just generally trying to keep spends down, there is always a reason to pick up a bargain when it comes to health and beauty products.
Top on my list for finding products like this are supermarkets. Always. I used to spend hours buying clothes, makeup and skin care from Tesco and some of the other supermarkets out there. These days, living in the city centre I don't really have that luxury and miss the opportunity for a good supermarket haul!
As a result, I also find I often end up spending quite a lot on day to day products. Definitely going to be making a conscious effort to venture back to Tesco to mix up my beauty product collection seeing as these have been such a success!
Treacle Moon Mango Thoughts
This shower gel is super fruity and smells so sweet without being sickly. I absolutely love it. Usually I use Imperial Leather Foam Burst Shower Gel but it's not had a look in since getting this! It froths up nicely and leaves you feeling clean and moisturised! Perfect! It is also alcohol free.
are so many more scrumptious sounding Treacle Moon products here, including "coconut island", "lemonade days" and "strawberry dream".
Pro Formula Cleansing Oil
So initially I got a bit carried away with this and used it as a moisturiser. I have no idea why. I just assumed that's what it was! As a moisturiser it is totally amazing - lasts for ages and leaves skin so much more nourished, which is something I am struggling to get from most of my moisturisers at the moment.
Using this correctly though, as a cleanser I also found it worked a treat. My makeup slides off and my skin feels supple. That said, you then have to rinse. This doesn't take away the moisture effect but is a definite must for me or I would end up with swollen irritated eyes in the morning!
I'd definitely recommend this as either a moisturiser or cleanser!
Pro Formula Micellar Water
This is a non-harsh cleansing water. I use this to remove the oil from the cleansing oil or any traces of makeup. I also use it before applying my moisturiser in the morning once I have washed my face. It just helps my face from feeling tight.
I like this product too. It's very understated in that I don't think it will create any miracle changes to my skin but it feels as nice as my Lancome toner. It smells refreshing and light and reminds me of cucumbers. I'd recommend this if you don't need anything too specialist and have sensitive skin as it's perfect on mine.

Nivea really seem to have stepped up their game. My first introduction to Nivea (along with lots of other girls) was that little blue circular tub of their super thick moisturiser. I still use this when necessary now!
Recently though, I found that I appear to have a new found appreciation for Nivea. It's one of those things that has crept up on me. It started firstly with the Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover (£3.49). I like this because it is a cheaper version of Lancome Bi-Facil Oil Free Cleanser and Makeup Remover (£21.00). I have to say - it pretty much does as good a job. So I've stopped buying Lancome now. I'd recommend this because I have super sensitive eyes but wear really strong waterproof mascara so need something heavy duty to get the stuff off. This is perfect for that and one of the few out there that work. A definite must have.
Then, during a supermarket visit I picked up some Pure and Natural Cleansing Lotion (£3.65), again weirdly to replace another Lancome cleansing product. I like this because it smells nice and leaves my skin feeling clean and moisturised. What I will say is that I still feel like I need to use a toner or face wash after it on the basis that if I don't there will be some foundation left behind. I imagine that this is because I wear Estee Lauder double wear and find that this is the case will every cleansing lotion I have ever used.
I received the Light Moisturising Day Cream (£4.25) for Christmas, which I loved because it went with my other products and found that this is the perfect moisturiser to use if you are having a light makeup day, no makeup day or (and this is how I mostly use it) if you have been to the gym and you are removing and refreshing your makeup during the day as a result. It's light and fresh and does not leave skin feeling greasy. It does however leave your skin feeling moisturised and supple. I find however that I still realistically need an eye cream with this and therefore for me, if I was using this under my normal makeup, I'd ensure I used it with an eye cream - otherwise I look a bit liney under the eyes I'm afraid! Again though a definitely recommendation.
I also use the Refreshing Cleansing Wipes (£3.09) post gym and to wipe off any cleanser residue but I have run out!!
Looking on their website I can see they really do have loads of products and plan on trying a primer or serum next - let me know if you have any recommendations yourselves!

| Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream and Face Cream |
I literally cannot seem to live without these two beauties. And I have tried. It just doesn't work though, nothing works for my skin as well.
I don't know about you, but I am finding that more and more things are irritating my skin, especially with the horrendous British weather at the moment. It is so depressing living in England! (well, when you consider the weather anyway - I love home the rest of the time).
As a result, my skin feels like it is getting drier and drier. Foundation, cleansers, air con and the gym are causing absolute chaos with my skin. So try as I might, I just couldn't wait any longer and had to repurchase these.
It' like the millionth time I have had these, but as they are so expensive I like to dabble with other products in case I find they are replaceable. I have tried so many drugstore and more high end creams without success. Especially when it comes to the eye cream.
I find that these eye creams are very moisturising without being greasy. The texture is thicker than a normal moisturiser I find but it blends into the skin really easier and creates the perfect makeup base - I never use a primer with these. If I use any other eye cream, I look around 10 years older!
I buy these from House of Fraser. The eye cream was £29 and the face cream was £36. They can be purchased here.

Ok, so this is something I have been using for around 6 weeks now.
At first I was using it every day although I haven't really used it in the past week.
To be honest, I have got bored of it. I have given it a good run, but it doesn't really add anything to my makeup. It definitely doesn't seem to make it last any longer on me. I didn't think it would realistically as I am yet to find one of these sprays that do, but in the interests of the blog I thought I'd try it.
Sadly, my makeup doesn't last longer with this.
It's an ok product but all it really does for me is make my makeup look a bit less powdery. In the way that I imagine a spritz of water would. So for me it's not that impressive. I wouldn't recommend. Having said that things can work differently on different people and £5.99 isn't that expensive so it might be something you want to try if you are thinking of trying these kind of facial sprays!
(I mean, I spend more than that on lunch in Spinningfields!)
For me though - not something I would repurchase.

Well it's that time of year when all of the excitement of the christmas and new years eve celebrations have passed (and you've already broken some of your new year resolutions) that it's time to take stock of what changes you really want to make that are both practical and realistic.
Here are my beauty new years resolutions:-
Firstly, one compromise is to wipe your beauty tools with anti bacterial wipes after use. This will work for in-between washes if you do this after each use from clean. The brushes will of course be a bit damp as a result, but should then have all day to dry - ready for next time.
This is an obvious one , but so easy to avoid. Personally, this is something I forget when I have had a little too much to drink (and I am not talking water). Otherwise I pretty good at this. The problem with living in the city is that there are far too many opportunities to drink too much!! I woke up with my false eye lashes on one morning between christmas and new years eve!!
Yes. This means a lot less processed food, sweet treats, caffeine and alcohol. Boooo - how boring. However, my skin (and weight) will thank me for it and that's worth it!

1. Clean Beauty Tools More Regularly
Germs, germs, germs..!
Ok, so I don't know about you but this is something that I really need to get into a routine with. Technically, this is something that should be done after every use, however that is just not practical is the busy world we live in so I plan to make some small changes.
Firstly, one compromise is to wipe your beauty tools with anti bacterial wipes after use. This will work for in-between washes if you do this after each use from clean. The brushes will of course be a bit damp as a result, but should then have all day to dry - ready for next time.
Secondly, once a week ensure that the tools you have used for the week are washed thoroughly. Apparently, you should actually let them soak in soapy water and then wash them. Pretty painful, although if I do this weekly rather than when I remember at least I won't be doing so many in one go!
This should result in them being much much cleaner, performing better and not putting minging germs on the face. Result!
2. Always Remove Makeup At Night
This is an obvious one , but so easy to avoid. Personally, this is something I forget when I have had a little too much to drink (and I am not talking water). Otherwise I pretty good at this. The result is obviously clogged pores, dull skin, spots and itchy irritated eyes.

3. Give Myself A Bi-Weekly At Home Facial
Now I would love to actually have the full experience and pay for this at a salon, but it's not going to happen. Once, twice maybe three times a year I will pay if it is something I learn I am into, but given there are other things I would prefer to spend my money on I am sticking with the DIY facials on a regular basis for now.
Fortunately, I rarely get spots and my skin is pretty smooth (with some wrinkles starting *sob* - wrong side of 25 now). That said, I feel like my skin is quite dull and only really lights up when I am in a sunny climate. Which being british means never, unless I am on a one or two week holiday.
So in order to increase circulation in my face and muscle tone (that's what it does right?), I am going to source an at home facial kit and start going for it. Hopefully the result will be brighter and fresher looking skin.
4. Use Up The Products I Have Before Investing In A MIRACLE Product
The benefit of being a beauty blogger is that you learn there are rarely any true miracle products. Yet despite that knowledge I am partial to a regular impulse buy from time to time (or quite a lot if I am honest).
Realistically, there are only a few skin care products I have used that I would repurchase if I get to the end of them and I think the results are often predetermined by your skin type from the outset. For example, I do not believe anything will truly help the dark circles under my eyes as unfortunately they are always there no matter what. And layers and layers of concealer really don't do much to help either.
As such, a lot of the items I have purchased (even since my clear out in October when I moved) simply live where skin care goes to die - storage that I don't really check up on.
This is not only silly. It's greedy and a waste of money. I am going to focus on buying products I really do want to try after a good research and not impulse purchases.
5. Look After The Outside By Taking Care Of What Is Placed Into The Inside
Yes. This means a lot less processed food, sweet treats, caffeine and alcohol. Boooo - how boring. However, my skin (and weight) will thank me for it and that's worth it!
Foods good for the skin include kiwi fruits, oranges, strawberries, almonds, avocado and muesli. Good, all yummy things then!
And one thing I really need to work on is making sure I get enough water everyday. I hate drinking water so much but I need to start as I am constantly dehydrated - which may be the cause of those dark circles and dull skin!

Like with foundation, when it comes to moisturiser I am constantly on the look out for something better. So when I was in Tesco last week I couldn't resist giving this a try when it was reduced from £7 to £4.67.
The cream is said to have anti ageing properties with SPF 10 and is said to be good for all skin types.
You can wear it alone or under foundation. I personally opt for the latter.
You can see that there is an almost gold sheen to the moisturiser and flicks of shimmer. I know that this can be quite concerning in some products but with this I really like it.
The moisturiser is very moisturising without feeling greasy and makes my skin look much more alive. It looks luminous and glowing without being too sheeny. I have been using it both with and without primer and either way it works as a really good makeup base.
My foundation seems to cling to it well and blends nicely so overall a definite success!
I wouldn't say that I am no longer on the look out for another moisturiser as that will just never happen, but I am definitely wearing it daily at the moment and it has replaced my recent favourite lancome moisturiser so it must be doing some good!

Ok, so it is very easy to forget how good some products feel on the skin.
I've always been a fan of Estee Lauder in general. Their makeup and skincare was definitely my absolute favourite until around about when I started blogging (which I now believe is down to getting all adventurous and experimenting with other brands more).
So it was like a lovely trip down memory lane when I opened up one of these moisturisers the other day as a result of a) running out of my usual and b) being back home with access to all my stored beauty products.
It was so lovely because I was instantly transported to a place where my skin feels moisturised without being greasy, smells and looks great all due to this beauty.
I should say at this point that I refer to smell because this product really does smell amazing. So fresh but in a really witch hazely way (or something). I haven't quite worked out the smell, but for me it is by far the best smelling facial moisturiser I own.
So how does it work on the skin? Beautifully.
I've been using it as a makeup base and it works great. No greasiness, sinks into the skin effortlessly, keeps skin supple and provides a perfect even texture to apply my foundation. Which then lasts all day.
My pores look reduced and the tone better.
I would 100% recommend this and I think I am going to go back to my old favourites (cleanser, toner etc) as a result as I just felt like "ah yes, this is what my skin loves" when I tried it again for the first time in so long.
Price? £37.00, so make it last...

For those of you that were following the blog from the beginning should remember that I was always a serum user, with one of my favourites being the VIE one I had tried around May/June last year.
I really enjoyed using it at the time and thought that I would repurchase it when I ran out. For whatever reason (which I believe to be lack of stockists in my area) I didn't.
Since then I haven't really got back into the whole serum thing. I haven't found a good cheap one (and yes I tried and used No7's for a while but it didn't wow me unfortunately) and I just haven't been willing to fork out for an expensive one like I used to.
My skin is fine. It got dry in winter and needed exfoliation at times as it does in the summer months also but on the whole it is clear and healthy. The issues I have are larger pores, primarily on the cheeks, which can look slightly awful if foundation isn't applied well.
Despite my skin being ok for the most part though I would still like to go back to using serums. There is just something that feels slightly more luxurious when you apply a nice light, beautiful smelling serum before a moisturiser.
However, I wonder if I am being conned and if it is that luxurious feeling only that makes me go back. I mean, my skin is fine without it. I have also had a similar feeling about primers because those that I have tried on the whole don't make a big enough difference for me to keep buying and using.
What do you think? Do you have any serums you swear by? Or primers that make a huge difference?

So whilst in my local Sainsburys the other day I picked up this little tub of Nivea. It's something I have had over the years and go back to from time to time.
It's very thick in formula but slightly easier to blend than Sudocrem.

I like this product because it really is great for moisturising dry chapped skin as well as just normal skin. I've even been using it on my face over the past few days. It acts as a great makeup base, but the downside is that skin does become oilier quicker when using this.
Great in that it keeps you moisturised for ages, but downside is that if you want to use it on your face your makeup might not last as long.
I'm guessing realistically a lot of you won't be wanting to use it on your face though and so for moisturising the rest of your body, this is great!

I ran out of my Tesco facial scrub the other day and haven't been able to get there. Which I'm pretty gutted about cos I love that product.
So whilst nipping to my local Sainsburys (which is nearer but one of those tiny ones) I picked this up.
It's got to be meant for girls because there is actually glitter in it!!! So cute. Of course what you really want to know is whether it's any good.
It is, but it's not one of my favourites. I mean it will get your face clean but it doesn't leave it feeling really clean though.
What I've found is that, for me, the beads aren't big enough so it doesn't really feel like my skin is getting exfoliated. I definitely need a face cloth for that feeling.
I wear makeup a lot and heavy ones in the week so I need a really deep clean, which means that this product isn't the perfect match for me. That said, it would probably work well for those of you with skin that doesn't get hammered with foundation, powder, bronzer etc.
Positives? It's smells nice, a little bit goes a long way and it's cheap (I paid around £2).
Would I recommend? Not if you want a really deep, skin buffing clean. But if you just want something that will give the skin a quick clean and leave it feeling fresh then I'd say this is perfectly fine for that.

Ahhhh you got to love a bit of Sudocrem. I can't remember a time in my life when I have not had this in my drawer!!
I used to use this a lot on my skin when I had lots of teenage spots, but these days I use it when my skin is dry, cracked or looking a bit uneven.
You can see that it's pretty thick in consistency but it will rub in. It looks scary if you put it all over your face though as it turns you white haha! But it is good for evening out my skin.
So I am super chuffed that you can now carry it around with you in a tube rather than in the massive tub. It's a little tough to squeeze it out at first but then it does come out and it's all good!!
It's so much better now that you can carry it around with you in your handbag and to celebrate this fact you can actually go on facebook and use their Sudocrem Bagology Facebook App and work out what you handbag says about you!!

So I'm sleepy and it's late - the perfect time to share my night time beauty regime with you yes?
Well not really no, so I think this will be a scheduled post for tomorrow!!
Anyway, you may recall me mentioning my love of the lancome eye makeup remover in the past. My love extends to these products also which, through the help of my parents and boyf I manage to keep topped up through gift receiving at xmas and birthdays!
My routine goes a little something like this:-
1) Remove all traces of mascara with eye makeup remover and use any residue on cotton wool to go over face.
2) Apply Cleanser to face using finger tips and thereafter remove with cotton wool pad (repeat if necessary).
3) Apply toner to cotton wool pad and wipe over face in upward circular motion (or just all over if I am too tired!).
4) Allow face to try and moisturise!
And there you have it - clean, fresh skin before bed!

Hello lovelies!! How are we all??
I wanted to do a couple of posts detailing my beauty regime - whilst it changes from time to time (tends to be seasonal) but I am pretty happy with things at present.
A couple of weeks ago - just before my birthday at end of June, I was suffering from what can only be described as minging skin haha!! Basically dry, patchy, blotchy, large pores etc.
Anyway, I nipped to Tesco to pick up some PJs(I love their short and vest combos - so cute and so cheap) and spotted this exfoliator.

Generally I like exfoliators, but I have had good and bad experiences in the past. I do like St Ives Apricot Scrub but this was much cheaper and I fancied a change so I picked it up! (£2.29)
I had a spray tan that night and used it the next morning and my skin looked and felt much better straight away!! Happy happy! I've been using it since and my skin feels totally different. Smooth, even and soft.

The texture is not quite as "bitty" as some exfoliators can be i.e. it has softer beads. I prefer this though - particularly if I am using it daily. It smells like watermelon and I have now started using it with a flannel and it really does make my skin feel great.

First thing to quickly say is that I have lost my camera lead so at the moment I am unable to upload anything onto the computer. Boooo. As soon as I find it I will go back to uploading my own pics, but for now I am having to rely on pictures sourced from the net.
Anyway, on to the review...
I sure that most of you are familiar with Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour range. Personally, I have been using the Skin Protectant and Lip Protectant Stick for around a year now and love those. Recently I've started using the Moisturizing Body Treatment too.
I must say that I really like this cream. It's a great thick texture that literally does last all day. I have been using it on my body - particularly my arms and legs which I often neglect due to long hours at work and not having a enough time to even think about ensuring I stick to a proper regime. So it has been good to use a cream that instantly injects my skin with moisture and saves me from scaly dry neglected skin times!
I have also been using it on my face after exfoliating and it leaves my skin feeling super super soft.
Definitely worth purchasing if you want a cream that can provide you super soft skin without feeling greasy or oily!

So yesterday I received notification that Tesco has launched a new health and beauty service.
The service is to include hairdressing, nail and threading bars. I don't know about you but I think this is a fab idea!
I personally have NO time in the week to go anywhere after work and at the weekends, I like to avoid going into town if I can avoid it. I just don't want to walk around with ALL the other people shopping mindlessly.
One thing I can't give up though is a trip to the supermarket. And these days, with them being so multi purpose - I get a lot of my essentials from their. (Including bits of shoes, jewellery and clothes at times).
So, why not extend that to beauty services!!? It makes perfect sense for the convenience!
"I'm off to get the groceries! Oh, and while I'm out I'm getting my hair and nails done! In a bit!" haha. I love the thought. Particularly because it means I can kind of multi task on a Saturday then rather than having to drive all over the show to get things done.
And I am not just talking getting my hair and nails done. I would also be able to pick up hair products like my Redken faves at the supermarket! RESULT. Saves me trekking into town!
Anyway, so you can keep your eyes open...
Nail bars and threading are being trialled in Wembley, Cambridge Bar Hill, Milton Keynes Kingston and Manchester (Walkden).
There are also standalone beauty salons, offering hairdressing also at Leicester and Chesterfield from January 31st.
Oh - and no appointments required ladies! I only hope that doesn't mean that if you want a service you can't get it because it's two busy!! That would be annoying.
Aside from that potential downside though I still think this is a great idea and would definitely expect to give it a go at some point. What about you???

I don't know about you, but I always find the thought of natural products appealing. After a working week of wearing long wear makeup when it comes to Saturday I just want to take everything off my skin and leave it soothed and refreshed.
So this morning before donning mineral makeup only, I gave the toner and serum detailed above a go.
The toner has no scent and is very gentle on my skin. It left my skin feeling clean and refreshed, without being tight and dry.
The day serum is to be used in replace of a moisturiser. Usually, I tend to use serums beneath moisturiser but I did not need to with this. The serum's consistency is pretty similar to a moisturiser really. My skin felt moisturised, but not greasy and my mineral makeup went on nicely with it.
My thoughts?
The products are nice and do feel good on my skin but I don't know if I would rush out to purchase. The serum can be purchased online at eydirect.com for £24.99 and the toner is £13.99. I think that is what makes me hesitant to purchase any of the products. For the price I would expect a product to do a little more than my average toner and moisturiser.
I will continue to use my samples and let you know if my opinion changes but I don't think that I will notice a difference in my skin, or makeup application by the time I have finished them - which is what I would be looking for.
If you don't mind paying these prices though I would still say you could do a lot worse than purchase products that don't aggravate or strip the skin and for that reason they may be good for those with more sensitive skin.

I was recently sent a couple of hand creams to try which I will review over the coming weeks.
The first one to discuss is this little beauty. I use this every day at work and it is fab. First of all it's only around £1.20!!!! Bargain.
What I like though is that it is not too greasy so I can use it to protect my hands after I have washed them, without worrying that grease is going to go all over my keyboard and mouse.
It's very moisturising and leaves my hands smooth and soft.
A definite good product which doesn't cost the earth!

Given my love for Bobbi Brown's Hydrating eye cream it was only natural that I would feel the same about their Hydrating face cream!
I purchased this at the same time as the eyecream as part of a set (it included mascara and makeup remover also) for £32.00.
The face cream normally retails at £33.00 for the full sized version. Mine is 15ml sized. As with the eyecream - a little bit goes a long way though so the set is worth having a look at if you want to give it a try.
Sooooo what's so special about this product? Well you know how it usually takes aaages in the morning with the serum, moisturizer, primer etc. Not any more - MUA at Bobbi Brown says this product has primers built in so it does the same job.

Which for me is a miracle because with other products, unless we are talking double wear by Estee Lauder, I end up with patchy skin by around midday where it is all coming off.

Morning all!
Recently I was approached by Cellnique regarding reviewing some of their products. I was asked to provide them with my skin concerns and they would send something appropriate to me.
So of course I raised the issue of the PORES. As a result they sent though the Cellnique Amino Collagen C Intense Set which retails at $96 for the two 10ml bottles.
I really like this product. I apply it like this...
From the first time I used it I noticed a difference to my skin. It did actually smooth it out and tighten my pores and my skin feels lovely and soft too. One thing I would say is that is smells pretty nasty. Very strong chemically smell which initially was very intrusive. However I am used to it now. I have used it 4 nights in a row.
Another point also is that the first serum can sting slightly on contact with the skin, but literally for a second.
I am going to continue using this product and review again in a couple of weeks because whilst it improved my skin a lot in the first use I feel that there has not been much improvement from that since. So I will keep you updated.
There is a lot of information on their website about texture, the benefits and how you use it. But to summarise I find that both serums are slightly thinner than most serums I have used before and one drop does go quite a long way. (I need to use two though from each to cover my face). It soaks into the fac providing you with a smooth surface that you can apply your normal primer and makeup over. I have done this but just prefer to use it at night because I have to wait longer for it to soak in so I can apply makeup otherwise.
All in all so far I find this to be a good product and would definitely recommend it, but I will let you know in a few weeks whether I will continue to use it daily or just when my skin needs a pick me up!

Ok, so here is another Skin Wisdom product I have been trialling recently. I had heard about the beauty balm being used as a "dupe" for the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm people often rave about. You got to admit, there are some serious similarities going on with the name!! But I can't actually compare the two as I haven't tried the Clarins version.
Anything I have tried of Clarins' though has always been nice so I should imagine that the Tesco version has a lot to live up to!!
Anyhooooooooo, the product is another cheapy one which I think I paid something like £4.00 for. Pretty standard price for non-luxury brands. However, I must admit that it did feel nicer on my skin than some of my other cheaper moisturisers. It's quite a thin consistency that is still very moisturising. My skin felt fresh and nourished as soon as I used this product, and continued to feel moisturised all day. Not bad.
The idea with the product is that it should provide "instant" effects making the skin look youthful and hydrated. I have seen reviews of this product with some women even claiming it reduced their dark circles under their eyes!! And the directions for application actually tell you to concentrate on the under eye area – which I found a little strange because usually you are told to avoid this with normal moisturisers.
So I used this for around a week daily and I must admit that whilst my skin felt nourished I wasn't particularly wowed by it. Yes it moisturises my skin and doesn't leave a thick layer of product, but unfortunately there were no changes to my under eye circles (not surprised however as I thought that would be a stretch too far!), no changes to the fine lines I have and worst of all IT CAUSED ME TO BREAK OUT IN SPOTS!

I never get spots as I was "lucky" enough to have acne as a teenager, so whatever the issue was then it left me alone when I was about 18 years old. Most products don't cause me any issues on this front so if a product makes me break out I just can't help but wonder what's in it to cause such an adverse reaction. The bottom line is though that for whatever reason my skin must not be able to breathe when I use this and therefore pores get clogged and well we all know how that ends up…
Which is a shame as I think that as a moisturiser this works fine and is pretty reasonably priced.
However, for me I will be passing it on for someone else to try because I don't fancy repeating my teenage years.
Anyone else tried this??
